My cat ate a whole poinsettia plant Friday and he's still napping?

That plant is poisonous to animals. I think you must be trying to be funny in a sick way because I can't imagine having a cat that doesn't wake up for three days and then going to Yahoo Answers to casually wonder aloud if the plant is toxic because the cat hasn't woken up since then.

It's not funny.

My cat ate a whole poinsettia plant Friday and he's still napping?
Am I supposed to feel guilty? I don't. I am sorry for the CAT. Report It

Reply:Is he still breathing? Can you wake him up? Poinsetta flowers are not poisionus but th plant itself is. call the vet ok?
Reply:Contrary to popular belief, Poinsetta's are NOT poisonous or toxic. This is just a very common myth that refuses to go away. These plants can, however, effect the gastrointestinal tract (cause an upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea).

The American Veterinary Medicine Association of America (AVMA), doesn't include poinsettias on its list of plants that are a threat to animals. If you're still concerned, go ahead and call your vet. The cat might have gotten into something else in addition to the poinsetta.
Reply:Bad idea in the house....cats always chew on plants.

Vet...immediately!
Reply:He may be dead. Poinsettia's are poisonous!
Reply:Pointsetta's are poisonous 2 a cat, r u sure it's napping.
Reply:take it to the vet before it dies
Reply:Please take him to the vet. Poinsettias are fatal for animals.
Reply:whoa---You better check on the cat making sure its sleeping! I was always under the impression the poinsetta plant was posionious to cats
Reply:Poinsettia plants ARE poisonous to cats and it IS fatal. Some of the people on here gave you wrong answers when they said it wasn't. It most certainly is. Take the cat to a vet.
Reply:Lexi P is right, its not poisonous but it will cause problems in the GI tract. Take your cat to the vet immediately, what are you waiting for....

Somehow, some of you guys amaze me. Lexi provided you with 4 sources for the answer, and it sounds like she works at a vet or something. Yet everyone else is obviously right, because pointsettas are posionous and you dont even post sources in your defense. And because Lexi went out of her way to help you, which is more than i can say for all of you who pulled the answer out of your butt without researching, but BECAUSE she went out of her way, you give her a thumbs down, i think that was really rude to whoever did that.
